Happy Egg, Bunny, Candy day! (Oh, and Easter).

We did some egg coloring with re-purposed items from the compost pile. We saved purple onion skins, yellow onion skins and coffee grounds.

For the coffee, we wrapped the eggs with rubber bands, boiled them in the grounds, with enough water to cover the eggs, for 10 minutes.

With the onion skin dye, we wrapped the eggs and tied them with string. Then, we boiled the eggs for 10 minutes.

The result is some really earthy, cool looking eggs, without the expense of an egg dying kit.
